Resolutions Northwest’s 25th Anniversary Celebration for
2010 – CALL FOR ARTIST’S PROPOSALS The Art of Reconciliation invites you to participate in this celebration. We are calling people to join us in developing an art show with art that celebrates and promotes reconciliation. Our first focus for a show will be to give homage to the people of the First Nations of North America. As more information becomes available, it will be posted here. In the meantime, please Email info@artofreconciliation.com if you are interested in becoming part of the group planning the art show, want to offer your proposals, or just have questions. You may wonder how you could be inspired to produce work that promotes reconciliation and healing of historic wounds inflicted upon the people who were the first settlers in North America. We are teaming up with the Restorative Listening Project here in Portland (see their site here). This project currently listens to the experiences of African Americans in relationship to gentrification issues in North Portland. They have agreed to invite Native people to be part of this project. Everyone is invited to listen to the stories. We ask the artists in the group to meditate on what has been said and to let the creative forces work impact their art so that it will speak to healing and reconciliation. We also want to challenge the artists not to copy Native art but to find a way to let Creator bring new images to us. |
