Resolutions Northwest (RNW) is a nonprofit organization providing mediation and education that helps Oregon's kids, families, and communities resolve conflict. RNW will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010. The Art of Reconciliation has been asked by RNW to help celebrate this anniversary. We are calling for artists in the Portland, Oregon area to help us organize an art show with the theme of reconciliation that will be part of this celebration. Barefoot College
Barefoot College is a place where reconciliation with our host the earth happens. Low income women from Africa and India attend here to learn how to go back to their communities and dig wells and to harness solar energy. With these developments they enable their villages to harness renewable energy which improves the lives of the residents. The Art of Reconciliation Exhibition--May 2008 Washington DC
The reconciliation exhibition presented 60 creations where backgammon boards have been turned into artistic objects dealing with the meaning of reconciliation as a starting point for the process of understanding and patience towards fellow man. The exhibition of artistic backgammon boards presents a fascinating cross-section of present-day Israeli artists and is constructed as a “suitcase exhibition” designed especially for mobility. Each box contains additional photographs and material about the artists and their creation and in fact, the backgammon box acts as a “pocket exhibition” for each artist. May the prayers of the artists for peace come true and this sign of reconciliation will prophesize peace and tranquility among all nations worldwide.
